in Guangzhou |
 |
|
 |
 |
It is the 26th track survey
since 1989.It was conducted in November, 2003 by multistage random
sampling.500 citizens from eight distract of Guangzhou are interviewed.
With regard to economic improvement, the interviewees¡¯ satisfaction
degree of electricity, water, gas, market supplies and economic
development in Guangzhou still topped the ranking. The satisfaction
degrees vary from sixty percent to eighty percent. Their disfavor
is mostly income gap, employment provision and social welfare. Consistent
with the surveys done in 2001 and 2002, the investigation indicates
a public concern that the municipal government will set about easing
up and eventually solving the three problems.
As far as social development is concerned, citizens are delighted
with Guangzhou¡¯s moving up in the national status, its increasing
international link and improving telecommunication business, their
satisfaction rate are respectively 75.4%, 74.2% and 74% .Other issues
like public security, administration of mobile population, ethos,
government honesty and credibility and medical care system are mostly
complained.
Generally, personal financing is less satisfactory. According to
the survey, the satisfaction rate is lower compared with that of
last year. Employment, social welfare, individual income, medication
and hospitalization are lowest ranked.

of the Public Opinion on the Motorcycle Restriction and Ban |
 |
|
|
 |
The survey was conducted
in October 2003 through telephone interviews of 802 local residents
in the twelve districts of Guangzhou, differing of their age,
sex and income level.
As is shown in the survey, the successful launching and landing
of Shenzhou V, the first manned spacecraft, has drawn great attention
of the public. The concern rate reached to 88.1% .And 84.4% of
the subjects approved that the first ever manned space mission
has a magnitude of significance while 10.3% considered it to be
comparatively significant. A summary of their comments shows that
the general public has seen its greatness and impact in three
aspects, a mark of the strengthening national power, a symbol
of the rising international status of China, and a milestone in
the development of Chinese aviation science and technology. Also
shown in this survey is the public rationality in their view concerning
the risk and venture during the space exploration. 80.6% of them
said that they ¡°would be able to accept the truth ¡± if there is
a failure in any future space mission while 6.3% said ¡°thay would
not able to accept that¡±.
